on the ps3 80gb the slot near the disk inserter that reads sd cards what is it for and do you really need it ??

It's to read memory cards and such, like if you have photos or videos and want to view or add them to your PS3's hard drive. You don't really need it. Just another cool feature about the PS3.
Reply:With that slot, you can insert SD Memory Cards, Memory Stick Duo, and CF Flash Cards.





If you have a Digital Camera or some other electronic device that uses CF Flash, Memory Stick Duo, or and SD Memory Card, you can transfer the data saved on the Flash Device to the PS3 easily by just inserting it into the proper slot.
