Question about SD cards for digital cameras?

Is there a limit to the size of SD card used with a digital camera? I have a Pentax Optio 30, and wondered if I could put a 1 or 2Gb card straight in there. Would there be a noticable difference in buying a 10mb/s card over a 7mb/s one?

thanks

Question about SD cards for digital cameras?
Make sure you check your manual for card size, but also, look for updates for your camera, maybe you can download a new driver and your camera will be able to handle different types of card brands. Don't worry to much about your speed unless you are shooting sports or wild life.
Reply:unless you plan on taking lots of pictures at once, you will be fine using a 7 MB/s card.
Reply:some digi cams have limits on how much memory they can take. check you manual. it should say this very obviously somewhere. i just overheard a guy at the store yesterday who had this problem. he bought a memory card that was too large for his camera. digi cams have software drivers that are for specific settings. most likely you can go to at least 1 gig. but check your manual. it will tell you.
Reply:You can put unlimited storage size of SD card in your cam as long as the SD card is supported by your camera...
Reply:might wanna check with your manual but for the most part you can stick whatever size card you want in there. I know older cameras could only take so much. but now, i believe whatever size card your wallet can handle will work. as far as the speed thing, that small a difference in transfer speeds won't really make a difference. it's all procesed on your card the same way so you might be able to take another picture faster but I'm talking like 2 seconds faster. not really much a difference so it's really up to you
Reply:It would probably work, but I strongly suggest you either call the manufacturer or take your camera in to the store to check it on the spot.
Reply:I have an Optio Pentax s50 with Meg pix5 and it works good. SD is 128 and another one is 64MB if I was taking just pictures then the 64MB was enough however I use my cam for mini films. So tell me how many minutes can you get with one gig?
Reply:I have a 512 with high speed, good enough for me, but they are up to 2 gig in size, you camera should handle it, but that is a lot of photos!
Reply:There should be no problem putting in a 1 Gb card but take your camera with you when you buy a 2Gb so you can try one before you buy as some brands of 2 Gb cards may not work.

Yes there is a big speed increase of 50% between the 7 %26amp; 10 Mbs cards.
