i understand there are various SD card formats. how do I know which one I need?
How many different SD (Secure Digital) memory cards are out there?
Your instruction manual wil tell you exactly what type you need or if there is a memory card installed at the moment the type will be written on it. Sd cards come Older Transflash SD cards, mini sd cards and micro sd cards.
Reply:Basically, SD cards come in different sizes
(i) SD (the biggest, also the size of an MMC card)
(ii) mini SD
(iii) micro SD
Your device will usually indicate which one is needed.
There is a newer format SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity), that allows much higher capacities that SD cards. However these are not compatible with devices that use the older SD cards. They are still relatively new in the market.
