In other words, if I run out of space on one memory card and want to transfer all my data on the old SD card to a new bigger SD card, will the old data still work on the wii? I am just wondering since I heard that Wii's may encrypt the data so it can only be played on one SD card. I really don't want to lose all of my game saves. Thanks so much for the info!

You should be able to do that. Wii somehow prevent transfer of channels from one Wii to another, but that seems to be more that each Wii keeps a catalog of what channels it should have on it. Save files for games work the same way, but you can just pop the disk in and create a save in order to have the right to have a save file on the system.
