I have a few SD cards for my digital camera. I traded an SD card with my brother. How many should I get? I know that I will be taking a lot of photos. I also plan on taking a trip to olympic national part with my family. I do have an SD card that is 2 GB.
My other SD card 128 MB how many pictures does that hold?
Whats the best SD card for my Arizona Trip?
i agree the 128 is worthless, it can hold probably 10-30 pictures, but it's just another thing to keep track of. It's beter to have 2 GB or larger cards so they're all in one place.
get as many as you can afford, and don't forget your battery situation. You don't want to miss those special moments because of a stupid battery.
Reply:It varies greatly depending on the picture quality and camera. On most digital cameras there is an indicator (number) somewhere on the main screen that lets you know how many more pics you can take at your current resolution. Even really large SD cards are relatively inexpensive now (sorry, don't have a number for you) but you should definitely just get one really big one rather than a few smaller ones.
Reply:The 128 MB card is worthless. That's what they include with cameras so you can take a few shots to test it out and that's about it.
A 2 GB card will hold about 570 pics at the highest quality in my 8 mega-pixel camera. More mega pixels takes more storage space per pic...
That's probably enough storage for a vacation. If you use the camera to take movies (uses space quickly), you might want to pick up another 2GB card or two. Never hurts to have a spare like Elvis said...
I disagree it's better to get one big card. I think some of the larger cards are more prone to malfunction because of how they push the limits, packing more memory into the same amount of space. The 2 GB cards seem to be the "sweet spot" right now. Look for cards that are at least 50X speed. There'll be less lag between shots. There are cards slower and faster than that. Again... 50 or 60X seems to be the price vs. performance "sweet spot" right now. There are some very cheap 150X cards like Transcend out there. They've been known to fail before long.
Don't panic if a card ever does go bad on you. There is data recovery software that can be used with a card reader to get the photos off of most corrupt cards. Just keep the card and pop in your spare.
Reply:I would take two 2gb cards
in case if one breaks.
I use sandisk or kingston
