How do I recording directly from a SD card video camcorder to an external hard drive without a computer?

I want to be able to transfer video files from a SD card video camcorder directly to a external portable hard drive without using a computer such as a laptop of desktop.

How do I recording directly from a SD card video camcorder to an external hard drive without a computer?
Card players/readers are available ... one can transfer the content on the card to any USB storage device too (like USB HDD....)

another option is visit : www.inoi.com/English/hd182.asp
Reply:too bad your camera does not have a DV ilink output. In that case you can use a Focus Firestore. Not only will that capture your video as you shoot, it converts it into ready-to-edit file format.
Reply:Look through your camcorders menu. If it has a transfer files option, which I doubt, select that while the external hd is connected and see if it starts moving them.

If not, you'll need a computer. The files will just be running in through one cable and right out another if you have both cables, or one if you first drop them onto your computer's hd. I know you don't want to do either but there's most likely no other option.
Reply:Look for USB OTG (On The Go) disk drives. So long as the camcorder appears as an external drive you should be able to copy the files across.

You can also buy OTG cases and put your own disk in.
