I must have deleted many pictures on my SD cards because they are nowhere to be found. I know of someone once who had a program to retrieve deleted data on the SD cards used for digital photography. Does anyone know where I can get this program? How much it costs, etc?
Retrieving deleted files on you SD card?
First using a card reader look at your card and see what is there and move it all to your computer. Some cameras start new file folders on the memory card after a certain number of image files have been saved.
Second, DO NOT delete your images using the cameras delete feature. This can and will cause the image index file to become corrupted and thus loose images.
The work flow for saving, deleting and clearing your card of images is as follows:
Copy all images to your computer
Edit them and delete the ones that are not wanted for what ever reason.
Format the card using the cameras format feature (do not use the computer to do this)
Reply:I have used PhotoRescue (one or two words...don't remember) to recover photographs from my Compact Flash cards, but I think it will work on other memory cards. Do a web search for it. They will allow you to download a trial, and you can run it to see if there are any recoverable photos on your card. If there are, then you can purchase their program. I think it costs around $30, but not sure. I have had to use it three times.. and I am careful with my card and format it only in my camera.
